We recommend that you use a laptop or computer to set up your account, device and flow.
Setting up a GSMCloud Account
This section guides you through account creation and payment card linking.
Payment card registration
To make use of GSMCloud, you need to associate a payment card. By default, you get a 30-day trial period to test your device and your flow, but it is not possible to use tariffed services like SMS and phone calls during the trial period.
- Tap the profile icon in the top right corner.
- Tap on 'Profile'.
- Go to left navigation and select Billing.
- Tap on 'Add payment method'.
- Fill in the 'Card Holder Name'.
- Fill in the card number.
- Enter the expiry date.
- Enter the CVC code.
Create Device
Let us connect your device to GSMCloud. All devices come with SIM cards and are ready to use, so you only need to connect via our cloud interface.
- Go to 'Devices' in the top bar.
- Tap on the New Device Top right corner.
- In the 'Name' field, enter the desired name for the device.
- In the 'IMEI' field, enter the IMEI number found on the side of the device. On some devices, ports can be named and configured immediately; on others, ports must be set up after the device is saved.
- Press 'Save'
The device is now created.
To name ports, click 'Edit' next to the device.
Project invitation or transfer
Under Project Team, you can add more users who can watch and keep track of things. This is also where you transfer ownership of a project. This can be accessed by going under Settings and then Project and Team in the left column.
Here you enter their email address and they will then be sent an invitation to the specified email address which they must accept.
Once the person has accepted the invitation, you can transfer ownership of the project.
Remember to check your spam and junk for the invitation
Modbus
Tap Add Slave.
- In the 'Device Name' field, enter the desired name for the slave.
- In the 'Slave ID' field, enter the slave's ID number. If the device still has the default ID, you can find it in the product manual.
Note: There can only be one slave per ID. Our Modbus master cannot change the slave ID, so you need to change it physically on the device via dipswitches. If this is not possible, the device must be connected to a computer with the included software (we cannot help with this unless the device is purchased from GSMCloud or GSM Teknik). - Tap on 'Add Port'.
- Select name, address and port type. We recommend that you follow the manual for your Modbus device to set up slaves correctly.
- If the device is sending information to the system, select "Input". If you want the Modbus master to send data to the device, select "Output".
Boolean vs. analogue:
- Boolean: Used when the slave only sends true/false or 0/1
- Value: Used when the slave sends a numeric value.
